CITB SMSTS Refresher Course for Site Managers
The CITB SMSTS Refresher course is designed for site managers and construction professionals who already hold a valid SMSTS certificate and need to renew their qualification. This course provides up-to-date training on current health and safety legislation, ensuring delegates can continue to effectively manage safety on construction sites.
The training reinforces key responsibilities for managing health, safety and welfare, while highlighting the importance of risk assessments, control measures and clear communication across the workforce. It also focuses on maintaining site efficiency and productivity through strong safety management practices.
Delivered through classroom-based sessions, the course combines presentations, group discussions and a multiple-choice assessment. Key topics include health and safety law, including CDM regulations, risk assessments and method statements, leadership and workforce engagement, accident prevention, and the management of workplace hazards such as working at height, plant operations and hazardous substances.
This refresher course is only suitable for delegates who can provide proof of a valid SMSTS certificate obtained within the last five years. If the qualification has expired, the full SMSTS course must be retaken

Certification Upon Completion
On successful completion, delegates will receive a CITB SMSTS Refresher certificate valid for a further five years, confirming their continued competence in managing health and safety within the construction industry.
