First Aid at Work (FAW) in Exeter, Devon

First aid is an integral part of workplace safety. The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require all employers to make arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work, which includes appointing a suitable number of first aiders and providing appropriate first aid training.

Over three days, learners develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a wide range of first aid situations, including assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, heart attacks, choking, head and spinal injuries, fractures and anaphylaxis.

This is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those appointed to act as a first aider in their workplace. It also suits people with a specific responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities.

Delivery Method

Delivered at the Champion Training Solutions training centre, Thorverton Road, Marsh Barton, Exeter, EX2 8GN. This course can also be run in-house at your own premises.

Course Content

• The role of the first aider
• Primary and secondary survey
• CPR and use of a defibrillator
• Choking
• Treatment of wounds and bleeding, minor injuries and burns
• Treatment of anaphylaxis
• Treatment of major illness
• Treatment of fractures, sprains and strains
• Treatment of head, chest and spinal injury

Certification

Successful learners receive the First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification, valid for three years.
